Christmas Tidings

I have been very busy the last few months. I went back to work, which has slowed down my knitting considerably. I did manage to get a few things done for Christmas.

The Hex Socks by Cookie A for my MIL. Knit out of Hazel Knits Artisan yarn in Impluse.

Chevalier Mittens for my Daughter. Knit out of Hazel Knits Artisan yarn in Lilypad.

A sweater vest for my Son. Knit out of Encore yarn.

A shawl for my sister. The pattern is my own. It is made out of Hazel Knits Artisan in Meadow.

A shawl for my Mother. The pattern is called Arroyo and it is made from Malabrigo Silky Merino.

With Fingerless Gloves to match. The pattern is called Welted Fingerless Gloves by Churchmouse Yarns and Teas.

Remember this is like 6 months worth of knitting. So it is not as ambitious as it looks.

Summer Hazel

I received some lovely yarns this summer from Hazel Knits.

The June shipment was inspired by the sea.

The August shipment was inspired by the farm. And it included one of my patterns, Haystacks.

Summer musings

I am so glad summer is over. The kids are back at school and life returns to some kind of normal.

I did get some wonderful yarns this summer. First off was the June shipments from Cookie A, "Oh My Darling" from Hazel Knits

and Janel Laidman, Madelinetosh.

Then there were the August shipments from them too.
Metamorphosis in Sugar Jets from A Verb For Keeping Warm was the Cookie A treat.

And Socktopus, Sokkusu in A slice of Orange.

There is also my shipments from Hazel knit club. I still have to take those pictures. I will share later this week.

Knit Companion

One of my patterns, Twisted Mockery, was included in the trial version of Knit Companion. This is a great app for the IPad. You import your PDF patterns into it and use it as you knit.

The patterns become very interactive. You can highlight your charts as you work on them. You should really go check it out! I have been playing with it and can't wait to knit with it.

Summer Knits

I have been doing lots of knitting that is secret or boring. So I could not blog about it. I will have to put up some of my recent acquisitions.

I have finally finished a pair of socks that I can show. The pattern is Gush by Yarnissima for the Solid Socks group on Ravelry. It was a very fun knit, as I always love pages of charts.

Watershed

Here is one of the things I finished on my Blogging hiatus.

It is Watershed, by Amy Swenson. It is a cute little bolero made from Debbie Bliss Eco Cotton for my daughter.

Their dress code at school does not allow for bare shoulders so she wanted this to wear over some of her more interesting tank tops. I think she looks really adorable.

Catch up

The last few months have been very busy in our household.

I worked from Feb to April doing taxes. That kept me really busy and there was not too much time for anything.

I have managed to finish a few items. One of which was the first Cookie A sock Haleakala, from her sock club. Shipment three should be here later this week.

There have also been a few stealth projects that I might be able to talk about later in the summer.

Stash Enhancement

The last week has brought much stash enhancement.

I received the first shipment from the Cookie A sock club and the Janel Laidman Art and Sole club. I am very excited about both.

Here is the yarn from the Cookie A club. It is String Theory Caper yarn, which is a lovely merino cashmere blend. I am going to start the sock in March.

Here is what I got from the Janel Laidman Art and Sole club. It too is a merino cashmere blend, but this one is from Pigeonroof Studio.

The red was very pretty, but at sock club at Lamikins a friend of mine got a different color and we traded. So now I have Inkpot.

Then, of course, I was tempted at Hazel Knits yarns. I purchased 4 skeins even though I knew the Feb club shipment was on its way. Here is what I got, two skeins of Entice, her cashmere blend, in Blacklight and Vamp(Wendee sent me this for designing the mystery sock for her group on Ravelry. Isn't she amazing?) Then Artisan in In the Colver, and Piquant in Sassafras.

And of course I could not let out the LYS, Main Street Yarns. I purchased some Malabrigo and Mini Mochie.

I also finished a pair of socks. They are Gentian, the mystery sock I designed for the Hazel Knit group on Ravelry. They are done in the colorway Toad Lily.

There is more. I will have to save it for another day.

Imagine

Unfortunately, I was ill for the first sock club. But everyone in the house is well now, and I am so excited about sock club tomorrow.

Here is the pattern I developed for it.

New Things

I am very excited to announce that I am going to be hosting a Sock Club at my LYS, Main Street Yarns. It will start Jan 29 and then be the Second and Last Saturday of the month.

I am designing a sock for the store. I hope to have pictures later in the week. We will be reviewing techniques each club meeting. The techniques will include things like cast ons, kitchner, cables, lace, heels, toes and any other knitting and/or sock related technique we can think of. I will cover one idea each meeting. I will also be available to help any sock knitter with their current sock.

This and other designs have kept me busy the first few weeks of the year. There will soon be pictures.

End of the year

I finished quite a lot toward the end of December. Here is what I finished then.

A shawl/wrap for my daughter. Lonicera by Kirsten Kapur.

A pair of socks, Holidazed by Ann Hanson

An Adipose, for my son's friend. We are all huge Dr. Who fans.

An Encompass cowl by the Yarn Harlot for me.

I finished a scarf I started over a year ago for my nephew. He really loves it.

I also did a scarf for my mother. The yarn has been around for almost two years.

I designed a pair of gloves from Hazel Knits yarn. I call them Art Deco gloves. I hope to have a pattern out soon.

And a pair of thrummed mittens for my daughter. To keep her warm.

Not to mention the Aragorn pattern.

And another sock pattern I designed. It is called Snarled. I still have to write it up.

My totals for the year are:
Socks 23 pairs plus two singles
Cowls 6
Scarves 2
Gloves 2
Shawls 2
Toys 2
Hat 1
Fingerless gloves 1

I also had some serious stash enhancement in December. I will have to talk about that another time.
