Snow Day

It is our first snow day of the year. We got about 4 inches of snow. Most of it has blown away today so there are some pretty drifts.

The kids were our sledding most of the day. I decided to be productive and make cookies.

November beginnings

Here is what I started for November. I started these for my sister for Christmas. They match a hat I also made for her. They are Ringwood gloves from Knitty. It is amazing how fast worsted weight yarn knits up compared to fingering.

And here is clue 1 of my Mystery socks for SKA on Ravelry.

And I started Aragorn, a lovely cabled sock.

And here is more weakness. I received some lovely yarn in the mail from Beyond Basic Knits.

October Finishes

I did manage to finish my October Socks.

So here is Greenhorn, by Hunter Hammersen.

And Through the Loops Socktober Mystery Socks.

There are many things coming up in November. I designed the Mystery sock for the Sock Knitters Anonymous group on Ravelry. It is very exciting for me. I can't wait to see all of the finished socks.

Friday, October 29, 2010

I am hurriedly trying to finish all of my October projects so I can start new ones on Monday.

I did find beads to go with my Hazel Knits yarn to participate in the Hazel Knits group bead KAL for November.

Update

I have been busy the last few weeks. There has been so many things going on with school for the kids, and projects. I have even started Christmas projects. But I will keep those under wraps for now.

There has been much Hazel Knits fun going on. I got the October shipment. It is beautiful. Coleus, the reddish one, and Meadow, the green one.

And I have finished the Hazel Knits group's Mystery sock for Sept/Oct. I used the Surf colorway.

There is another Mystery going on over at Through The Loops. I have 4 clues completed on that.

After looking at her designs I found another one to knit for my daughter. It is called Lonicera

I have also been working on a pair of socks from Hunter Hammersen. She is the designer for October in the Sock Knitters Anonymous group on Ravelry. The pattern is called Greenhorn.

And I got together with some of my friends from Sock Club. We have been sewing since there was not Sock Club for the month of October. We all made these bags:

I think that is all for now. I do have a big list of things to do for November already.

And now for something different

One of my LYSs closed a few weeks ago. I have been meeting there the first and third Saturday for Sock Club for a year and a half. So some of us got together the first Saturday of October to sew. I know, crazy. I used to do it all the time. Now it is pretty rare.

This is what we worked on:

It is the Margot bag from Lazy Girl Designs. I found the handles at Sew Ezy in Sharonville, Ohio. I am really happy with the way it turned out. I needed a new fall bag.

Finishing Weekend

I finished two pairs of socks this weekend. One of which had been languishing from June.

Here they are.
Laeticia from TwistCollective

And Ampersand from Kirsten Kapur of Through the Loops

I am going to try to get two more socks completed before October. I am about half way through one that I started last night. So, it might be doable.

The end of Summer

Today is the 21st of September and the last day of summer. To say goodbye to summer I thought I would share some pictures.

A beautiful summer day.

Lovelies from my garden.

And here are my latest knitting accomplishments.
Half of my Ampersands for my daughter

And the Lock Ness Monster

Half of my Test knit for LauraJ called Grass Ripples. The yarn is Hazel knits Artisan in Spice.

I have been working on a few stealth projects. I will be able to tell you about in November and January.

Busy, Busy, Busy

I thought thinks would calm down after school started. Clearly, that is not the case. There are meet the teacher nights and club meetings along with all of the kids regular activities.

Plus, for most of August I was working on a stealth project. I am almost finished with that. I did have a little time to work on some knitting.

I finished the Swedish Fish socks for my son.

As well as a small shawl, Meliae by Melissa Goodale. It is made out of one skein of Hazel Knits Artisan sock yarn in Leaf.

I have started a test knit for LaruaJ on Ravelry. It is a truly beautiful pattern. I will probably do another shawl or two for Christmas knitting. And maybe some Cowls, fingerless glove etc.
I better get busy.

It's how late in the summer?

Boy the summer is really getting away from me. I thought I would have so much more time to do things. There are house projects, knitting projects and quilt projects I wanted to do. As usually I have planned too much.

A few things I have been able to get to are my first stranded knitting project. Swedish Fish Socks by Spilly Jane. I modified the pattern a little to fit my seven year old son. He loves anything fish.

I have also started a shawl, Traveling Woman by Liz Abinante. I am using Serenity Sock yarn from Zen Yarn Garden. It is lovely to work with.

Oh, I did finish a pair of socks in June. They are my own design, Waterfalls. Made out of yarn I dyed at our LYS.

They are toe up socks. I changed up the pattern at the end of the cuff. I might have to use that on a whole sock.

There have been a few other projects started. I always have 5 or 6 on the needles. But they are not far enough along to get decent pictures of yet.

The end of May

Here we are at the end of May 2010. It is crazy how fast this year is going.
We had a great Memorial Day weekend. I took the kids to the local Amusement park for a few hours. This is the first year we got Season Passes. And of course they went swimming at our neighborhood pool every day.

While at the pool I did manage to knit some. So, I finished the sock I needed to for May.

First was Spring Forward. A Knitty pattern.

And Skew. Also a Knitty pattern.

I was also able to do a Baby quilt this week for someone at my husband's work.

Completion

I have finally gotten a few things completed.

My back yard hill. It took a few weeks as life often interrupts. But after weeding, planting 36 day lilies, 3 rose bushes and a few other plants. Here it is.

A pair of Socks: My own pattern, Snow Petals, in Knit Picks Stroll Tonal.

A Cowl, my own pattern, Karen. Using Knit Picks Gloss.

I am still working on my April socks for Sock Knitters Anonymous. I took a yarn dying class last Saturday at the local LYS. I will have to get pictures of those. And I started the Cookie A mystery socks for Sock Knitters Anonymous for May.

In the near future I will try to get pictures of all of these.

Errors

I hate errors. But, sadly, they are a fact of life. Especially in patterns. I was doing my Snow Petal socks again and found another error. I made a mistake on row one of the set up chart. So for all of you that already downloaded it here is the correct setup chart. There is only a change on row 1.

If you have not already downloaded it, I have made corrections to the pattern and it is now up on Ravelry.

Two things

Sorry, it has been so long since I posted. Spring has come early here and I have been trying to get our yard in order. I have a problem area in the back yarn that needs quite a lot of TLC.
Here is the front.

And here is the back.

You can see I have a lot of work ahead of me. Even after four days of work the yard still has another week or so of work ahead. I am trying to plant more perennials so I do not have to spend so much time every year.

The two pairs of socks I was working on for March are now complete.

Halvsies

I have half of two different sock patterns completed.

Atlantis, by Janel Laidman from The Enchanted Sole.

And one from the Solid Socks group Mystery on Ravelry. It is now called Tea and Scandal socks by Stephanie or (VeryBusyMonkey)
